- Total students redistricted: 7,396, about 1/8 of HCPSS student population.
- 3194 Elementary students redistricted;
- 1,351 Middle School students redistricted;
- 2,851 High Schools students redistricted
- This plan does not directly address overcapacity issues. It swaps students:
- Elementary School level: Ducketts Lane ES receiving 252, sending 238; Phelps Luck ES receiving 281, sending 213; Waterloo ES receiving 330, sending 276;
- Middle School level: Burleigh Manor MS receiving 115, sending 107; Clarksville MS receiving 117, sending 207; Hammond MS receiving 154, sending 127; Harpers Choice MS receiving 224, sending 149;
- High School level: Atholton HS receiving 471, sending 610; Oakland Mills HS receiving 257, sending 256; River Hill HS receiving 741, sending 478; Wilde Lake HS receiving 373, sending 197
- This plan does not maintain contiguous communities or neighborhoods (BOE Policy 6010 IV.B2 b.)
- Two polygons 256 and 1256 will be moved from Fulton ES to Laurel Woods ES, creating an island. The students will have to pass 2 other elementary schools before arriving the newly assigned ES.
- Neighborhoods in a 1-mile radius from River Hill HS will have students going to 3 different HS
- Atholton and Oakland Mills HS boundaries gets split in multiple sections and separating communities.
- This plan imposes additional transportation costs, and could result in deeper budget shortfall (BOE policy 6010 IV.B1 c. Fiscal responsibility by minimizing capital and operating costs)
- BOE has surplused many teachers to balance the fiscal year 2020 budget
- Dr. Martirano has recommended to delay the Talbott Springs ES replacement from SY2020 to SY2027
- Dr. Martirano has recommended to delay the Hammond HS renovation and addition from SY2023 to SY2026
- This plan would result in longer commute time and less sleep for students.
